PINA-APPLE VEGGIE SALAD & A HOMEMADE SAUCE
Pina-apple veggie salad. Any day, a salad is a great way to cheat your mind into believing that you have eaten. Well and the benefit is that you get to control your diet. With all the junk food around, at times eating a salad can be quite hard. However, once one can get into the practice of preparing salads over at home, it can be a good boost to the body. I personally struggle with choosing a salad over a junk meal when in a restaurant but when I started making salads from home, I am able to store some in the fridge for lunch on weekdays.
I recently bought a very tasty pineade jam and I have been using it mostly on my bread until a thought came into my mind and I thought of using it to make one of my sauces for a salad and the outcome was amazing.
Video lovers, here is a step by step video showing how to prepare it.
- ½ of a Yellow Bell Pepper (yellow hoho)
- ½ of a Red Bell Pepper (red hoho)
- ½ of a Cucumber
- 1 Slice of Pineapple
- ½ of a Red Cabbage
- ½ of a Lettuce
- 1 Apple
- 4 tbsp of Plain Yogurt
- 2½ tsp of Pineade Jam
- 1 tsp Vinegar
Cut the red and yellow bell peppers (hoho) into thin strips about 1cm thick.
Cut the cucumbers into thin circular shapes.
Chop the pineapple into small pieces. The pineapple is used to complement the taste from the pineade jam.
Cut the apple into thin strips.
Cut the red cabbage and the lettuce into very very thin slices.
Then transfer everything into a bowl and mix the ingredients together.
Add in the plain youghurt, pineade jam and the vinegar into a small bowl and mix together.
Drizzle in the sauce in the mixed salad.
Serve by dressing your serving bowl with the red cabbage leaves, pour in the salad and drizzle in some bit more of the dressing and it is ready for serving.
The beauty of a salad is in the making. It does not require a lot of time and makes use of very simple ingredients. The pina-apple veggie salad is great for a hot afternoon or a Sunday afternoon. However, you can have it at any time you like.
